LONDON, Ont. — A 33-year-old man from London, Ont., is facing charges after allegedly stealing more than a million dollars from an elderly woman.
The London Police Service offered few details about the alleged fraud, which they allege took place between 2013 and 2018 and resulted in the woman losing $1.25 million.
They say the suspect borrowed money under false pretenses.
He is charged with fraud over $5,000 and possession of proceeds obtained by crime over $5,000.
The man was arrested on Friday and is set to appear in court this week.
Police are urging the public to educate themselves on the many techniques would-be fraudsters use to swindle their victims.
