A Thick heavy blanket of wet snow along with hours of freezing rain can look like a winter fantasy but it can be a headache for homeowners and crews of the PUC
PUC Crews have been responding to various power outages caused by tree contact with power lines. In a lot of the cases a branch has snapped off due to the weight of the snow and ice and fallen on to power lines, causing outages. About 7,000 customers lost power on and off for most of Monday evening.
Trees along Pine Street (pictured) north of Northern Avenue couldn’t handle the load of the heavy snow causing trees to to bend and in some instances whole trees have crashed down from too much weight.
Environment Canada forecasts about15 cm of the wet stuff before the storm moves out of the area Tuesday.
Wife was bugging me to cut back a lilac bush and some dead maple branches!
My work is done ✅😂
Question!
How ppl stay warm when power is out? Do ppl have the traditional/old school fireplaces in Sault?

My huge, backyard tree is so laden with ice coating all branches and then hvy sticky snow, that huge limbs are breaking off and loudly hitting the ground. Tore off my BELL lines too.
I love it when the trees and bushes are loaded with snow. Such a pretty picture. Took a couple today, in fact. Guess we have to enjoy and love Mother Nature as she is, eh? Onward ho, troops! xo xo
Elizabeth St Jacques until the branches break on to the power wires and you end up with no power 4 hours not so pretty now LOL
