Man Dies as Result of Caledon Street Incident

Caledon Street Incident

On Jan. 9, 2020, around 6 p.m. Sault Ste. Marie Police responded to a call for service in the area of Caledon Street. Upon arrival, officers found a male in critical condition suffering from a gunshot wound. The male, 44 year old John David Jamieson, was transported to hospital, and later died as a result of his injuries.

The incident has been deemed a homicide and officers with Investigation Services continue to investigate. We believe this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to public safety.

  1. We didn’t make it very far into January and we have the first Soo homicide of 2020 🙁
    And it was so senseless.
    D Kudybas post above is correct. Trap house, out of town crew here, he (and others) tried to rob them, shots fired, now he is dead.
    Now we wait and see what charges shake out of all this.

Absolutely appalling….Another sad and tragic example of how the drug culture can take the most unsuspecting people and turn them into monsters that are no longer recognized as their true selves, destroys families, and literally end lives💔 There is NEVER nor will there ever be a reason to take a life, As humans we just don’t have that power! So horribly sad to think his life was taken this way. Before he chose drugs a mechanism to cope he was a hardworking kind soul. Praying his family finds peace and solace that he’s now in a “safe” place.

  3. Use the search function on sault online or sootoday and search for the name of deceased. What happened is not a surprise.
    Jamieson preyed on people, stole for people and did horrible things.
    Those who live by the sword…..
