Women filled the tables at Grand Gardens North on Friday evening for the Algoma Autism Foundation’s second annual Sippin’ in Stilettos fundraiser.
This event included a silent auction, vendors such as Amore for your Pleasure, OC Hair, Bath & Body Co., Cornucopia The Beauty Lounge, Origami Owl and more, as well as dinner and entertainment by Tim Murphy, who performed as Joan Rivers and Gina Lola-International-Bridge-ida.
Algoma Autism Foundation Board Member Louise Olar told SaultOnline that this is just one of the many fundraisers the AAF puts on during the year. Others include Trunk or Treat, The Ride for Autism and Sensitive Santa, just to name a few. All funds raised at these events stays local.
“It’s nice to see that the community comes out and does this kind of stuff to support kids in the community,” she said.
“I think (community support) is important to allow these kids to have opportunities that sometimes they can’t have otherwise, and also it raises awareness for autism and it’s educational for the community.”
