This past weekend the United Floors Soo City United U15 girls participated in the Indoor Ontario Cup final round in Vaughan, ON.  The preliminary round consisted of  23 teams.  The top winners of each round qualified to the final round consisting of the top 8 teams who competed for the Championship of the Indoor Ontario Cup.   The competition was fierce as our team had to compete in a  higher age group against U16 girls teams.  The tournament round had the girls playing 3 games Saturday night within a span of 5 hours.  Our girls finished the first round of competition with a perfect 3-0 record.

Game one was a 1-0 win against a very strong and physical U16 Ottawa St. Anthony Futuro with a goal from Isabella Fata and shutout from Hannah Hiltz.

In the second game Soo City United won 2-1 against the U16 Berlin Academy ID – Kitchener with goals scored by Isabella Fata and Berlyn Killoran.  Unfortunately Isabella Fata was injured in the 2nd half to eliminate her for the rest of the tournament.

The last game of the night Soo City United pulled off a 2-0 win over the Brampton Brams 05A with a penalty shot taken by Cassandra Burzese and a goal from Alexa Naslovar off a corner kick.  The shutout went to Hannah Hiltz in net.

Soo City United finished the first round in first place and advanced to the semi final round the next morning playing the 2nd seed from the other division.  While playing this game defenceman Samantha Mazzuca fell to an injury and couldn’t return to play.  Soo City United lost a hard fought battle to Ajax SC 2004 with a score of 1-0.  Ajax advanced to the championship round against Glen Shields FC Lions 2004.  The final score was 2-1 for the champs, Glen Shields.

This was an amazing experience for our team and our 3rd time representing at the Indoor Ontario Cup. The coaching staff is extremely proud on how the team came together and played hard against some of the best teams in Ontario.  The soccer talent in Sault Ste Marie was well represented this weekend.
