It is with great sadness the family of Martine Schellekens announces her passing at the North Shore Health Network in Blind River on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at the age of 86.
Predeceased by her husband Robert Schellekens, her parents Agnes and Charles Melis and her brother John Melis. She will be sadly missed by her sisters Lulu, Helene and MaryRose. She leaves behind her three children Glenn Schellekens (France), Jennifer Roy (Jerome) and Kelly Gioia (Gino). She also leaves her most cherished grandchildren Stacey (Derek), Chad, Brent, Kasey (Josh), Sara (Tyler), Ryan, Daniel and David and her great grandchildren Kyler, Madison, Karson and Ashtyn. She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Martine will be remembered for her smile, her laugh, kindness and her gift for making everyone feel like family. Her passion was her family, quilting and spending time at camp enjoying the sun.
The family can’t thank the staff and medical team at Golden Birches Terrace and NSHN-Blind River enough for their care and support during her stay there.
Family and friends are invited to visit at Menard Funeral Home, 72 Lakeside Avenue, Blind River, on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 from 2pm to 4pm and again from 7pm to 9pm. Private interment at a later date.
