On Saturday evening, the 21st Annual Shadows of the Mind Film Festival and Gala kicked off at The Grand Theatre with an Afterparty at the Sault Ste. Marie Museum. The festival runs from February 24th to March 1st.
The theme of the Shadows of the Mind Film Festival is “Bringing Mental Health, Addictions and Social Issues to Light” through the entertainment value of film. The festival picks films and events to create awareness and education on addictions and mental health issues.
The Gala film was Arab Blues. It is a modern comedy taking place in Tunisia discussing the questions of culture and gender.
They include two local films in this year’s festival. The Canadian premiere of The Bet filmed in Sault Ste. Marie and the Brotherhood shot in Wawa. Director Richard Bell will attend the screening.
