SHARP, Marabeth

Marabeth Sharp

Passed away suddenly on Saturday, February 22nd in the loving arms of Daniel, her husband and best friend of 50 years. She is now together with her parents Dr. Ken and Daphne Miller, her mother-in-law Eileen, and her beloved Cairn Terriers Trooper, Abby, and Jenny.

Extraordinary mother to Laura Stone (Michael) and Michael Sharp (Hilary McCain). Doting and loving grandma to Hunter and Gavin Stone. Family was Marabeth’s number one priority. She will be missed by her brother Ken Miller (Gill), her sister-in-law Linda Marasco (Conrad), brother-in-law JD Sharp (Janice Schick), and father-in-law Cliff Sharp. Cherished aunt to Alex and Colin Miller, Samantha and Devan Marasco, and Rae Sharp. She will be dearly missed by her cousins on both the Tupper and Miller sides of the family.

Marabeth was a chartered accountant with a rapidly advancing career that she willingly stepped away from when Laura was born. She continued to generously donate her skills as a Board Member and Treasurer of the Art Gallery of Algoma, and Board Member, Treasurer and President of the YMCA.

Marabeth’s greatest passion, however, was for her church. She truly felt a calling to devote herself to the St. Andrew’s family as a long-standing board and session member, former Chair of the Board and Worship Committee, and long-standing Treasurer. She had a personal relationship with her God and had a profound faith. One of her greatest joys was expressing this faith through music. She spent over 35 years with the church choir and cherished the camaraderie of the choir and the beauty of the music.

Marabeth loved the outdoors, particularly her time spent on the boat in the North Channel with her family and dogs. Marabeth and Dan boated together in the North Channel since they were teenagers. She was never more at peace than while “swinging on a hook” in her beloved Baie Finn. She felt a home was not complete without a dog and has missed her dear Trooper every day since his passing two years ago.

Marabeth was extremely grateful for the extraordinary care provided by the Sault Area Hospital, including the compassionate teams in the Emergency Department, Cardiac Cath Lab, and with Ornge transport.

Marabeth was taken from us in the prime of her life and will be dearly missed.

Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road, 705-945-7758) on Friday, February 28th from 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church on Saturday, February 29th at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Eun-Joo Park officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Critical Care Fund-PCI Sault Area Hospital Foundation or the St. Andrew’s United Church Endowment Fund would be appreciated by the family.
