The Art Gallery of Algoma (AGA) is presenting the Seventh Annual Members’ exhibition Winter Festival of Art: Memories, opening on Friday February 7th at 7:00PM. This exhibition is open to the general public.

A record 115 artists will be participating in the event this year, most of which are from Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma. Additionally, a few of these artists from Michigan, USA and Southern Ontario will be participating. These artists come from a background of all artistic levels and age groups – ranging from youth to more senior and established artists.

We are thrilled to announce Sault Ste. Marie MPP and Minister of Colleges and Universities, the Honourable Ross Romano and Minister of Heritage, Sport, Tourism, and Culture, the Honourable Lisa MacLeod will be opening the exhibition.

The Jury will select three winning pieces based on theme and artistic merit. In addition to these awards, there will be several Honourable Mentions. Funding for the prizing have been donated by David Ellis, a well-known architect and Board Member of the AGA. The first prize will also receive a trophy “Best in Show”.

We would like to extend our gratitude to the former donor of prizes Nora Ann Harrison as well as to David Ellis for their generous support in this important community exhibition.
For the first time ever, the Jury will present “The Most Innovative Painting Award” sponsored by the Algoma Art Society in memory of the late artist Nancy Coldwell.

Please join us for this celebration of amazing talent in our community!
