Closures, Cancellations and Postponements due to COVID-19


The following is a list of closings, cancellations and postponements of large public gatherings (50+ people) intended as precautionary mitigation measures to avoid the potential spread of COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) by Flattening the Curve. With the announcement by Premier Ford on Tuesday, March 17, that Ontario has declared a state of emergency, most events and gathering places such as restaurants and bars will be closed to the public. Take-out and delivery services will remain open.

  • Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre – CLOSED / To our valued friends and supporters, please be advised the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre will be closed until further notice. Please be safe with your family and friends.
  • Canadian Mental Health Association Sault Ste. Marie – office CLOSED
  • City of Sault Ste. Marie – All City recreation facilities, community centres and arenas are CLOSED until further notice / More Information Here
  • Classic Neon and Signs – will be open with reduced hours and staff at this time.Call 705-256-7310 or email [email protected] for details.As most of our work requires file transfers and sketches we ask that customers call or email with their requests.All sketches, pricing and communication can be done digitally.Manufacturing, service work and surveys are continuing as we do not have contact with customers and most is done outside and or at heights.We have paused some interior work that was scheduled.All in-house printing and design are still currently active.   • Community Career Centre – CLOSED to the public until further notice.   • Community First Curling Centre – all events CANCELLED and CLOSED for season
  • Credit Counselling of Sault Ste. Marie – will continue to provide full services however it will only be by telephone appointments, email and electronically. For the safety of clients and staff, we are not providing face-to-face service until the COVID-19 pandemic is over. Tax preparation services have been suspended until further notice.   • Sault Ste. Marie Region Conservation Authority Offices – CLOSED until further notice

  • Special Olympics Sault Ste. Marie – All events, including Bowling, Swimming, Curling and Cross Country Skiing have been cancelled until at least March 31 as directed by Special Olympics Ontario.  Check our website  for updates.Special Olympics Regional Winter Meet –  Regional Winter Meet scheduled for March 21 – 22 for Curling, Swimming, Snowshoeing and Cross Country Skiing has been cancelled.

  • Salvation Army We would just like to remind the public that The Salvation Army Food Bank continues to be open for food appointments.  Our hours are  10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.  Please check our Facebook Page for any updates “The Salvation Army Sault Ste.   • The Special General Membership Meeting that was slated for Tues. March 31, 2020 has been CANCELLED – hopefully it will be held Tues. May 5th, but we will be notifying people when and if.
