Crime Stoppers and the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is requesting your assistance in identifying a suspect who is passing counterfeit money.

On February 5, 2020, at 9:10 pm, an unknown male suspect attended Rome’s Independent Grocers.

While paying for his groceries, he passed a counterfeit american twenty dollar bill.

  1. Why we accept American bills at our grocery stores is beyond me. Convenient for the customer perhaps, but cashiers are not properly trained to detect counterfeit bills. Try to find a grocery store stateside that would accept Canadian bills. They accept the currency of the land, as should we.
