As part of our effort to slow the spread of COVID-19 and to heed the advice of the Ministry of Health and Algoma Public Health regarding the need for social distancing, the Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre (SSMIC) is no longer accepting visitors as our staff are now working remotely. SSMIC employs over 50 staff and we feel this decision is best for the safety of our employees and our community partners.
Our partnerships and ability to serve you remain our priority, and as such we will remain fully operational. SSMIC employees will be working diligently from their remote locations. Our email and phone systems are operational meaning our team can be reached easily.
Our events are being cancelled or deferred until further notice in accordance with public and staff safety requirements. This will not stop us from planning an exciting set of events for later this year as conditions improve.
The office closure will not stop us from providing all business support services, process funding applications, or any other client focused need as well as all RAIN team funding program services. We ask clients to feel free to reach out by phone or email at anytime.
We offer a Guidebook for Remote Working on our website for any other businesses that are choosing to work remotely. We also offer a selection of e-learning courses related to entrepreneurship and IT for those who would like to take this time to partake in professional development.
We will continue to assess the situation and will make you aware of our hours open to the public as the situation improves. By working together in innovative ways, we can help stop the spread of this virus while striving to continue to strengthen our community’s economy.
