Starting this spring, Crimson Ridge Golf course will be home to the newly re-started Sault College Golf program. Recently named co-head coaches Kyle Thibeault and Mike McMillian were instrumental in making a partnership between Sault College Athletics and Crimson Ridge Golf course a reality.
The agreement will see the Sault College men’s Golf program call Crimson Ridge home for the foreseeable future. The Men’s team will benefit from unfettered access to one of the best courses not just in Northern Ontario but in entire province. In addition, the partnership will see Sault College given access the driving range and to Crimson’s new golf simulator at its clubhouse for off-season training.
“We are excited to be partnering with such an amazing golf course and such great people like Jav Ghassemkhani & Mario Palumbo of the ownership group as well as Travis Spiess the director of operations for Crimson Ridge; they have embraced our newly restored golf team and are excited about making Crimson Ridge the home of the Sault Cougars Golf team. The course, the range and simulator are all top notch and should give us the ability recruit top golfers from around the province and the US”, stated Sault College Manager of Athletics Paul Orazietti.
This sentiment was echoed by new Cougars co-head coach Kyle Thibeault, “the partnership with Crimson Ridge gives our program a great foundation and allows our student athletes the chance to play and practice year round at one of the top golf facilities in Ontario.’
It is anticipated the Sault College team will host at least one invitational tournament per year which will be open to all OCCA schools, Usport schools and colleges in Michigan.
