We could look like blizzard conditions if an earlier wind warning hits as squalls line up off Lake Superior. With Lake Superior’s open waters, this scenario could materialize all at the same time. Locally we could see 15cm or more in drifting snow by Friday night

Snow squall warning in effect for:
Sault Ste. Marie – St. Joseph Island
Snow squalls and blowing snow developing early Friday.
Westerly snow squalls will develop off Lake Superior early Friday, Local snowfall amounts near 15 cm are possible by Friday evening.
Furthermore, very strong wind gusts to 90 km/h will likely generate whiteouts in blowing snow.
Conditions will improve Friday night.
Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Road closures are possible.
