The good news is snow squalls may not materialize and if they do, the squalls won’t last for long. The bad news, we could see numerous power outages as winds gusts to 90 km/h for most of the day. Snow and blowing snow will reduce visibility as well. A deep low pressure system with a sharp cold front is to blame for the extreme wind in the area today. The low itself will move out by tonight, leaving a much calmer day for Saturday.
Wind warning in effect for:
Agawa – Lake Superior Park
Sault Ste. Marie – St. Joseph Island
Searchmont – Montreal River Harbour – Batchawana Bay
Westerly wind gusts of 90 km/h today especially over exposed areas.
Winds will begin to gradually diminish this evening.
Power outages are possible.
Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage.
