SAULT STE. MARIE: Ontario hardware stores and many construction sites have now been deemed non-essential and asked to remain closed during the COVID-19 pandemic. In Sault Ste. Marie many hardware stores in the area are offering curbside pick-up services or delivery, and online purchasing to assist all customer needs. Along with purchasing hardware supplies and equipment, such as wood, the process of renting equipment has also changed. Construction Equipment Co. (Sault) Inc., a local rental company in Sault Ste. Marie, is here to explain it’s new guidelines and operating process and answer a few questions on how they are helping to Flatten The Curve.
Danielle Louck, media coordinator and office administrator, was here to answer SaultOnline’s questions.
What are you and your team doing to help “Flatten the Curve” during these difficult times?
We have minimized high-risk staff. We are keeping only a few on staff to protect our employees as well as minimal exposure for our customers.
What can customers expect with regards to changes in how you are providing your products/services?
We have limited access to our showroom at this time, instead of working with one customer at a time at the door. Pick up/ delivery options are available for our customers. We offer payment over the phone for our customers to help with minimizing contact. We also bring items to the customer’s vehicle so they are maintaining the recommended social distance.
What changes, if any, are there in your hours of operation?
We have shortened our normal hours to Monday to Friday 8 a.m – 4 p.m. We also have our 24-hour emergency line.
Do you have a few words you would like to share with the Community?
We want our community to know we are open and here for them during these ever-changing times. Our staff and customer’s safety is our highest concern. We are taking every measure to keep everyone safe and following the advice of APH and the CDC closely. We have gift certificates available for use in any department/ service for when things begin to return to normal if customers prefer. Being at home doesn’t mean you can’t find things to do. As Spring is starting to show, we have amazing sales going on! Now is the perfect time to get those projects done that you have been putting off. Our Facebook page and our Website are updated and followed closely if customers have questions. They can also call our business line for help with anything or to schedule a sale, rental, service or parts need.
New guidelines can be found on the Construction Equipment Co. (sault) Inc., Facebook page and webpage, and staff are available to answer any questions by phone call. A picture of the new guidelines has also been attached to this page.
