On April 13, 2020 officers with Patrol Services arrested 26-year-old Sidney Benwell for uttering threats.
At 1:48 p.m. on April 13, 2020 the accused attended a business in the 700 block of Queen Street East. While there the accused had a verbal exchange with another person in the business. While leaving the business it’s alleged the accused threatened the victim’s life and showed the victim a firearm he had in his possession.
Officers located the accused a short time later and arrested him. At the time of arrest he was found to be in possession of an imitation firearm.
He is charged with uttering threats, assault with a weapon, possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose, using an imitation firearm while committing an offence and breach of probation. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 22, 2020.
