TORONTO — Ontario’s education minister says all publicly-funded schools will remain closed until May 31 to keep students and staff safe from COVID-19.
Stephen Lecce says the decision was based on advice from medical experts.
Lecce says the school closure could be further extended.
Students have already transitioned to learning online over the past month.
The Ministry of Education says it has already distributed 20,000 iPads to students whose families don’t have the means to access online learning.
Private schools, First Nation schools and licensed child care centres are currently set to be closed until May 6.
Agree to cancel rest of year, But maybe there could be Graduations – when safe to do so 👍
Just keep the schools closed for the rest of the year its safer and smart its stupid to reopen them now wait till September start fresh
Big mistake!!!
Unless you plan to have summer school letting a million kids back to school in Sept is very risky
Just compare Sweden and Norway
Just cancel the school year and reassess for September
