Decades-old tradition put on pause for COVID-19
One of Rotary Club’s biggest events of the year has been postponed.
Rotaryfest, the Sault’s Summer festival along with the Community Day parade will not be happening in July said the Rotary Club Friday morning in a news release.
“Out of concern for our wonderful community and in response to current events, the Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie has made the decision to postpone ROTARYFEST, The Sault’s Summer Festival. At this time there will be no event in July. Our team is monitoring the recommendations of Algoma Public Health and the provincial government, looking forward to when we can gather together again.” stated the release Friday morning.
COVID-19 forced the Rotary Club to change things up for their annual Easter Seasl Telethon a few weeks ago. The live televised portion was dropped reducing revenue for the telethon substantially .
ROTARYFEST (formerly Community Days) is a proud local tradition dating back to the first parade put on by the Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie in 1922. We know what this event means to our community, and never get tired of hearing about the joyful memories made over the years by families and friends.
