St. Ignace, Michigan – The St. Ignace Visitors Bureau and Car Show Committee made the decision Wednesday, May 20th to postpone the 45th Annual St. Ignace Car Show Weekend from its usual date in late June to September 3-6, 2020 (Labor Day Weekend). This decision came after much deliberation and consultation of local business owners and operators, law enforcement, LMAS health department, and others.

Letters and information will start going out to pre-registered car owners ASAP encouraging them to change their plans for Car Show weekend and offering full refunds to those who are unable to attend the September show. Hoteliers will likely begin contacting those with reservations to change or cancel them as needed, based on availability.

“We did not take this decision lightly,” says St. Ignace Visitors Bureau Executive Director Lora Brown, “We know that there is no ideal solution for a problem like this in these difficult times and we are confident that this decision will provide the ability for us to keep everyone safe. We will continue to monitor the situation and make adjustments and/or cancellations as needed to ensure the safety of our staff, volunteers, locals, and visitors alike.”

Some aspects of the show will remain canceled for safety and budgetary reasons, but we will work to fill the weekend with activities. A full schedule of events will be released in the coming weeks. At this point, the Down Memory Lane Parade (usually held on Friday night) will still be canceled as well as the Muscle on the Mac bridge crossing (usually held on Saturday night). Vendors and show cars will be spaced out more than usual and other safety precautions will be taken as well.

“Although we do not relish making tough decisions and cancelling long-time favorite aspects of the show, we are excited to make concrete steps towards hosting a safe and fun weekend for everyone,” says St. Ignace Visitors Bureau Events Director Quincy Ranville, “Safety is and will remain our top priority.”

We appreciate the flexibility and understanding of our guests as well as our local business owners as we work to make these difficult decisions. We are confident that St. Ignace Car Show weekend will move back to its usual late June date in 2021.
