TORONTO — Ontario will start tiptoeing back to normalcy today, allowing a small list of mostly seasonal businesses to reopen as the spread of COVID-19 slows.
Premier Doug Ford announced the plan on Friday and said it should be seen as a “glimmer of hope” that the province’s efforts to stem the spread of the novel coronavirus are working.
The businesses include garden centres that offer curbside pick-up, lawn care and landscaping companies and automatic car washes.
Auto dealerships can reopen but by appointment only, and marinas and golf courses can prepare to reopen.
The number of confirmed cases in the province climbed to 17,553 on Sunday, an increase of 2.5 per cent over the previous day.
Ontario has now seen 1,216 deaths linked to the virus, many of which are in the province’s long-term care homes.
Ontario is one of several provinces that are starting the long process of reopening their economies, including Quebec, Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
I’m hoping the border opens as well. My job is reopening on the 28th and I have seen my parents in seven weeks.
What about re-opening Barber Shops and/or Salons—I need a haircut–It is a health hazard to let hair grow for a long time
I don’t understand why golf courses re-opening is more important than groomers for our pets. Our pets are suffering but then yet, Joe down the street absolutely needs to put his round of golf. What is wrong with this picture 🤬🤬🤬
Danielle Wight or our pet innoculations
Ryan Barsanti…any word?
Matt Barbeau just getting the course ready for when they get the green light … went out yesterday with some guys and started to clean up the brush and fallen trees … greens look fantastic
Matt Barbeau & Ryan Barsanti…I see the next generation was learning how it’s done too
MacDonal Robinson our generation has its turn. Now it’s our kids.
Bryson helping yesterday too
Then why open more stores ..
Hoping the border will open back up soon so that when my Dad & stepmom are home from Arizona back to Michigan & self isolate, they can come visit or vise versa.
