The City of Sault Ste. Marie residents are invited to show their national pride and participate in Canada Day by decorating their homes and businesses for a chance to win some great prizes.

“We hope the community will participate in celebrating our nation while maintaining physical distancing recommendations,” says Virginia McLeod, Manager of Recreation and Culture. “This year, our community will be transformed by our Canadian spirit. We hope people participate in decorating their homes and Canadians enjoy virtual celebrations being broadcast on the Department of Canadian Heritage web and social media sites to celebrate our great country.”

To take part in the contest, households and businesses are encouraged to show their patriotic spirit and decorate their windows, doors and front façades with a Canada Day theme. Take a photo and tag the City’s Facebook page by noon on Tuesday, June 30 using #SaultCelebratesCanadaDay. Alternatively, participants can send their photos to [email protected] with their name and address (address is for staff use only, and only for the purpose of issuing the prize). All entries will be put into a draw for a chance to win a number of Canada Day prize packs. Winners will be announced in the afternoon of June 30 on the City’s Facebook page.
