Grade 12 graduating student aims for excellence and set high goals for success

Cassandra Breckenridge is a grade 12 student at École secondaire Notre-Dame-du-Sault (Sault Ste. Marie). She is very ambitious and strives to outdo herself in everything she does, be it academic, athletic or in another field of interest. Very active in the school’s student parliament, she has excelled since grade 9 as a member of the school’s senior girls’ volleyball team.

Outside of school, Cassandra contributes countless volunteer hours for the Legion, the Lions Club, the Vimy Foundation and the Autism Foundation. Very involved in the Cadets, Cassandra holds the highest leadership role. She is a biathlon athlete with the Cadets and has won several honours and earned interesting learning opportunities. She was one of 18 athletes selected to be part of the national large-caliber shooting team for a four-week camp in England last summer. This winter, she was among the 18 candidates who took part in an international army cadet expedition to Santa Catalina Island in the United States.

In 2018, Cassandra was recognized as the best cadet in Ontario and was presented the Major-General WA Howard’s medal and is now considered for the President’s Award which would once again qualify her as the best army cadet in Ontario. This would also allow her to earn the title of best cadet in Canada, and to obtain the commemorative sword of Lieutenant General Walsh. What is extraordinary, Cassandra manages to maintain a very high academic average, despite her involvement in a wide variety of extracurricular activities.
