Ontario Extends Emergency Orders

TORONTO — The Ontario government, in consultation with Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, has extended all emergency orders currently in force that were made under s.7.0.2(4) of the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act to July 22, 2020. The extension was made to ensure the province maintains the necessary flexibility to protect public health and safety as more businesses reopen and people go back to work.

The extension of the emergency orders will help protect vulnerable people, such as seniors, by allowing the redeployment of frontline staff in long-term care facilities, retirement homes and other congregate care settings, like women’s shelters and residential services. In addition, the extension would allow public health units to redeploy or hire staff to support case management and contact tracing.

“Our government is getting Ontario back on track and more people back to work, but at the same time taking steps to ensure we don’t undo the tremendous progress we have made together,” said Premier Doug Ford. “By keeping these emergency measures in place, we will continue to support our frontline care providers, protect our most vulnerable, and ensure we can rapidly respond to potential outbreaks or surges.”

The government intends to extend emergency orders to align with the Reopening Ontario (A Flexible Response to COVID-19) Act, 2020, if passed. This proposed legislation is part of the government’s plan to cautiously reopen Ontario in a way that recognizes the ongoing impacts of COVID-19 even after the provincial declaration of emergency has ended. The bill, if passed, would allow Ontario to continue its path to recovery by easing restrictions where appropriate, while maintaining important select tools to address the ongoing threat of this deadly virus and protect Ontarians.

A full list of emergency orders can be found on the e-Laws website under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act and at Ontario.ca/alert.

  1. You know Fordy Boy, I was with you at first … BUT …right now you are pushing all the wrong buttons. It’s time to kick all the liberal ideas you are backing to the curb.

  2. Start getting the tin foil hats ready…every conspiracy nut is going to be fearing for their lives…oh no, protecting society is going to mean they can’t get their first world privileges satisfied, because they are more important as an individual then the rest of us

  3. What if this is being done to put all small businesses into bankruptcy so the big companies like coke can have a monopoly. Noone know yet what the effects on this covid 19 will have. Suicides? Homlesses? Mental health, more divorces, less marriages, deaths due to people with other illness not being looked after

    • Josie Weir this is true, we don’t know those numbers – but we do know how serious the virus is and how many lives we are saving by being safe. The virus isn’t a choice. Imagine if the hospital was filled to capacity (like what happened in Italy, Spain, Florida, New York etc) how many people die then because they are not getting looked after AND how many more catch it while being treated and die because of it. Let’s leave the science to the experts.

    • Josie Weir you have a point but the bigger picture is more important…you can do nothing once you get it…you will not have the chance to improve your financial position, or your personal connections or your mental health…

    • Marc Dupuis you have the freedom to get sick and suffer whatever (if anything) comes from that. You do t have the right to cause others to be sick if they don’t believe in the same things as you – I have no problem with them being safe at this point – I’d rather keep moving g forward than taking more steps back

    • Marc Dupuis actually you rights are not more important than mine – change my mind. You speeding through town, is not your right if others are fearful – if you create a danger by not following then your rights do not outweigh those of others.

    • Stephen Alexander Your rights are not being infringed upon if healthy people do not wear masks. Speeding is the wrong analogy. If I am driving through town in a safetied vehicle doing the posted speed limit and someone has a phobia that is not my problem.

    • Marc Dupuis I guess if you could have a way to know who actually was a carrier, your logic might be valid. I wonder if you would enjoy a game of Russian Roulette? Many wouldn’t want to take that risk!😥

    • When you ask why? – It’s just a mask: …..”It’s just a mask” can turn into “it’s just a vaccine” very quickly. And it will, you can bet your bottom dollar on that! In less than 5 months, our government has successfully divided the country into “obedient mask wearers” versus “selfish people that refuse to wear masks”. “It’s just a mask, you guys”. It’s for “the greater good”! Where have we heard this phrase before?💡. In less than 5 months, our government has dictated what events are acceptable versus unacceptable to attend. Riots are OK, family funerals are not. Standing in a graduation line is a “safety hazard”, but feel free to line up at WalMart, Lowes, and Home Depot. . But it’s “just a mask” & “safety precautions”, you guys. In less than 5 months, our government successfully facilitated the closing of family-owned businesses while granting authority to large corporations that they have invested interests in. It’s “just a mask” and “safety precautions” you guys. Oh & here’s a measly $2000 that we stole from you in the first place. Enjoy! In less than 5 months, our government was able to successfully sway the population into believing that a CASHLESS SOCIETY is a good thing! In the name of a government sponsored virus. In less than 5 months, our government closed down public schools, and has “restructured” school moving forward under the guise of “public safety” from a “virus”. These same schools fed children crap per the corrupt food pyramid. But “health” matters when it comes to a government sponsored virus 💡 . It’s “just a mask” & “heightened safety precautions”, you guys. In less than 5 months, our government demonstrated how easily people assimilate to “guidelines” (that have NO scientific premise whatsoever) when they are fearful. What was up with all that toilet paper? It’s “just a mask” & “6 foot social distancing”, you guys. Oh, and dooky paper. In less than 5 months, our government has successfully instilled fear in a majority of the population in Canada. . But citizens are not “afraid” of the people in power who are responsible for the removal of their “freedoms”. Instead, they’re fearful of their neighbours and family, human touch, and air. There are thousands of viruses that *could* affect the population, but these viruses do not matter because MSM didn’t say they do. It’s absolutely terrifying to me that so many people do not question authority because they see that authority as “all knowing.” It’s even more terrifying that these same people rely on corrupt “leaders” to be led, thus lacking all critical thinking skills/independence. . Slaves to the system that keeps them oppressed. . How quickly history is forgotten and repeated! . What’s most problematic to me about all of this is that the people who are wearing masks “for the greater good” will be the first to sign up for this shiny new vaccine that’s had 0 longitudinal safety tests against an inert placebo. What’s more problematic to me is that this Vaccine MAY be the deciding factor in life moving forward. You thought a mask was inconvenient? Wait until you’re told that you cannot enter a store without proof of the Covid-19 vaccine. Wait until you cannot go to public events, or travel, without proof of having received this vaccine. To everyone that doesn’t believe this is possible – do you understand that our government just successfully dictated to people WHEN they were allowed to be outside, where they were allowed to go, and how their children would be educated, in less than 5 months? And that a majority of the population followed blindly because they were told to do so. 🤦 . You’re kidding yourself if you believe that they’re not going to repeat this behaviour with a vaccine. If people have not protested the occurrences in Canada over the last 5 months, they will assuredly continue to abide by unsubstantiated “guidelines” that will include a vaccine.

    • Stephanie Dupuis I for sure will not be getting the vaccine nor have my kids get it until I’ve seen enough of the effects it can have, both short and long term. I’d probably be waiting a year or two before getting it. I don’t care what restrictions I have, I’ll work around them. But I agree with you, everyone is basically a heard of sheep just following whatever is brought to them.
