Severe thunderstorm warning in effect for:
Sault Ste. Marie – St. Joseph Island
At 10:57 a.m. EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts and heavy rain.
This line of severe thunderstorms is located from 35 kilometres southwest of Sault Ste. Marie to 40 kilometres southwest of St. Joseph Island to 80 kilometres south of St. Joseph Island to 165 kilometres southwest of St. Josephs Island, moving east at 85 km/h.
Hazard: 90 km/h wind gusts.
Locations impacted include:
St. Joseph Island, Lake George, Neebish, Harmony, Bar River, MacLennan, McCluskie Lake and Carterton.
Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding.
Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles.
The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
