Two Charged With Break In To Wawa School

(WAWA, ON) – On July 21, 2020, at approximately 5:20 a.m., members of the Superior East Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a break and enter in progress at a high school in Wawa.

Upon arrival at the scene, police observed a broken window and door at the rear of the school. Officers were able to hear the suspects inside the building and made entry. A short time later, two people were located on the property and placed under arrest.

As a result of the investigation, Peter BANKS, 18 years-of-age, from Wawa, was charged with the following:

  • Break, Enter a place – commit indictable offence, contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Theft Under $5000, contrary to section 334(b) of the CC,
  • Mischief Under $5000, contrary to section 430(4) of the CC,
  • Possession Break In Instruments, contrary to section 351(1) of the CC,
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, contrary to section 355(b) of the CC,
  • Disguise with Intent, contrary to section 351(2) of the CC, and
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid (other than heroin), contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on August 10, 2020, in Wawa.

Aidan ROBERT, 22 years-of-age, from Wawa, was charged with the following:

  • Break, Enter a place – commit indictable offence, contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Mischief Under $5000, contrary to section 430(4) of the CC,
  • Disguise with Intent, contrary to section 351(2) of the CC,
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid (other than heroin), contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).
  • Unauthorized Possession of Weapon, contrary to section 91(2) of the CC,
  • Possession of over 30g dried cannabis (or equivalent) in a public place, contrary to section 8(1)(a) of the Cannabis Act (CA), and
  • Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling, contrary to section 10(2) of the CA.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on September 14, 2020, in Wawa.
