The Métis Nation of Ontario’s (Region 4) “Our Culture Is Our Strength” project is receiving a cash injection courtesy of the COVID-19 Emergency Community Support Fund.
The $30,375 grant will help the Algoma Regional Métis Community to safely hold community events focused on ongoing health, cultural support, wellness and rebuilding of community throughout the pandemic and into the recovery period.
“The Métis Nation of Ontario has put several programs in place to assist our citizens through these challenging economic times, and the regional Métis community is grateful to the Algoma Community Foundation and Community Foundations of Canada for providing these funds to help meet the cultural and social needs of our citizens,” says Mitch Case, Region 4 Councillor of the Métis Nation of Ontario, “Throughout incredibly difficult times, our culture has always been the key to our survival, and it is no different today.”
The project will centre on the needs of seniors, elders, children and youth.
