UPDATE: As of 130 am City Police have cleared and reopened access to the area.
Sault Online/ONNtv has received reports from residents of heavy police presence in the Cooper Street and Central Creek Drive area in the west end of the city since around 930 pm.
It appears Cooper Street between Central Creek Drive and Korah Road are closed off to traffic and pedestrians at this time due to the police incident. Residents were told to stay inside their homes and there is confirmation of a police negotiator on site as well as a police drone in the area.
Residents have reported to Sault Online they have heard the police communicating via the loudspeaker for at least one hour, as well as a drone flying above the area.
City Police are advising the public to avoid the areas mentioned above for their safety and the public’s safety.
