It’s been five months since movie goers in Sault Ste. Marie could watch the next big blockbuster on the big screen, that changes today.

Galaxy Cinemas in the Station Mall re-opens today, with a number of safety protocols in place.

Some of the new safety guidelines  include reduced seating and an emphasis of cleaning efforts.

Galaxy Cinemas reopens Friday after fading to black for five months because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Most of the theatres will accommodate up to 30 people. Following Algoma Public Health guidelines, movie-goers will be required to wear a mask unless you are seated and or eating or drinking in your seat.

Cash will only be accepted to purchase theatre gift cards, tickets can be purchased online.   The theatre will rely on credit, debit and contactless payment.

Galaxy Cinemas is part of the Cineplex chain of theatres across the country. As of today including Sault Ste. Marie, 137 screens out of their 164 locations will have re-opened.

  1. That’s a really old picture, galaxy cinema hasn’t had a sign on that side of the mall in years. That place has gone downhill since this new GM took over. It smells like garbage in that end of Station Mall.
