On August 29, 2020 officers with Patrol Services arrested 27-year-old Ronald Lecuyer for careless use of a firearm.
At 6:08 p.m. police received a call of a man in the 200 block of Goulais Avenue carrying a sawed off shotgun and a black handgun. Prior to police arrival the person described left the area in a vehicle.
At 7:25 p.m. officers located the vehicle in the area of Lake Street and Pawating Place and conducted a high risk vehicle stop. The accused was in the passenger seat of the vehicle and taken into custody. Three other people were in the vehicle at the time of the traffic stop. They were detained as part of the investigation and released unconditionally.
During a subsequent search of the accused and the vehicle officers located a black handgun style BB gun and a knife that opens with centrifugal force. During the investigation officers discovered the accused allegedly threw a duffel bag containing a sawed off shotgun out of the window of the vehicle on Pageant Drive. When the bag landed the shotgun discharged a round. No physical injuries were reported as a result of the discharged round. Officers attended the area and located the firearm.
The accused is charged with careless use of a firearm, careless transportation of a firearm, three counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, three counts of carrying a concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm, two counts of unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a prohibited firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, unauthorized possession in a motor vehicle and possession of a prohibited weapon with ammunition. He was held for bail court.
