Severe thunderstorm warning in effect for:

  • Sault Ste. Marie – St. Joseph Island

At 9:35 p.m. EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts, pea to dime size hail and heavy rain.

This line of severe thunderstorms is located from Caribou Lake to 10 kilometres west of Red Rock, moving east at 70 km/h

Locations impacted include:
Thessalon, Red Rock, Allard Lake, Nettleton Lake, Odena, Little Lake George, French Bay, Lake George, Echo Bay, Bar River, McCluskie Lake, Desbarats Lake, Bog Lake, Lonely Lake, Tower Lake, Portlock, Gibboney Lake, Gordon Lake, Caribou Lake and Rock Lake.

Heavy downpours are likely to cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance. Fast-moving water across a road can sweep a vehicle away.

The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
