Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has extended the State of Emergency until October 1st at 11:59 p.m. because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
On Thursday September 3rd, Whitmer announced that gyms and pools would be allowed to reopen and organized sports could resume across the state.
Both practices and competitions can resume throughout the state, though there will be strict protections in order to limit the spread of COVID-19.
Gyms and pools can start reopening Wednesday September 9th and must follow certain safety measures. Gyms have to require masks at all times, including during exercise, and create workout stations or implement protocols to allow six feet of distance between everyone inside.
Governor Whitmer is urging people to wear masks, keep physical distancing and limit large social gatherings for the time being.
