Since the original alert this morning, more areas north of Sault Ste. Marie are now included in a frost advisory tonight.
It is recommended to cover plants and trees that are sensitive to frost. The full alert from Environment Canada follows:
Frost advisory in effect for:
- Agawa – Lake Superior Park
- Searchmont – Montreal River Harbour – Batchawana Bay
Some plants may be damaged or even destroyed by frost.
Patchy frost is expected tonight.
Low temperatures are forecast to drop near to the freezing mark overnight. Temperatures will rise above zero by early Tuesday morning.
Cover up plants, especially those in frost-prone areas. Take preventative measures to protect frost-sensitive plants and trees.
Frost advisories are issued when temperatures are expected to reach the freezing mark during the growing season, leading to potential damage and destruction to plants and crops.
