Ohio company wins $111 million contract for Soo Locks approach walls rebuild

Ohio-based Kokosing Alberici LLC has been awarded a $111 million contract to complete Phase 2 of a multi-year project to build a new lock at the Soo Locks.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers made the announced today.

The project is designed to stabilize the existing approach walls which will allow modern vessels to tie up and wait to pass through the lock.

Construction is set to begin next spring and will take about two years to finish.
