Michigan health care workers get first access to COVID-19 vaccine

According to a plan by state health officials, health care workers will be the first in Michigan to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.

Once that happens, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services COVID-19 Vaccination Plan stipulates the vaccine will be distributed to everyone else by local health departments.

Those who are most vulnerable to severe complications of COVID-19 – such as first responders, people who live at long-term care facilities, and people over 65 to name a few – will be given priority.

Vaccines would eventually be available at local health clinics, hospitals, medical officers and pharmacies.

However, it remains to be seen when a successful vaccine will be available and which company will deliver it.
