Stranded Boaters Rescued Safely


On October 8, 2020 at 12:43 p.m. Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan 911 notified the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service of two stranded men in a boat in the area of Gros Cap.

The boaters experienced motor trouble, but were able to safely get to the shore line.

Officers were able to make contact with the two men and advise them to stay in that location.

Two officers attended the area of Gros Cap and were able to reach the two men on Police Service ATVs.

At 2:53 p.m. officers transported the two men to safety on the ATVs

The men did not require medical assistance as no physical injuries were reported.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service wants to remind everyone accessing the outdoors to let someone know where you are going, when you plan to be back and a means of contact. Following these simple tips could save a life.
