November 5, 2020 – Please be advised that at a duly convened Council meeting on October 28, 2020, Batchewana First Nation Chief and Council made a decision, after several lengthy discussions, to postpone our General Election. The date of February 5, 2021 has now been changed to May 5, 2021 due to the COVID19 pandemic. Details with respect to this postponement are in BCR #2020-024, including the change for the nominations (attached).

Now that we have changed this date for the 2021 election and is supported by your leadership and Canada (Indigenous Services Canada), the date of May 5th will be set for future subsequent elections.

Additionally, Chief and Council have recognized the challenges that we have had with our elections being held in February with respect to weather, therefore, this will allow our Membership to have safe access to voting station(s).
