Looking to launch a career in construction?

The Sault Community Career Centre has partnered with the Sault Ste. Marie Construction Association to launch “Build This City: A Construction Fundamentals Training Program” designed for job seekers and employers.

Adam Pinder, Executive Director of the Construction Association, says the program – which launched last Spring – provides knowledge and some industry-standard certification to prepare the job seeker for an entry-level position in the construction industry.

“The demand for motivated, adequately trained, work-ready, construction workers exists across the country,” says Pinder. “The industry continues to deal with an aging workforce and will continue to face that hurdle for years to come. ”

Pinder adds space is limited for this free program.

“In order to be eligible you must be 18 years of age or older, be a resident of Ontario and legally entitled to work in Canada, not participating in, or returning to, full-time training or education, and unemployed or working less than an average of 20 hours per week,” says Pinder. “Interested candidates must complete an application and proceed through a comprehensive screening process.”
