The pandemic has played hell with so much we take for granted…. and that hopeful, ‘maybe we have flattened the Covid curve’ summer and early fall attitude has slowly given way to successive daily Ontario records for infection. Death rates are rising, and the feared second wave is breaking across the country. It is a grim, uncertain era – but if we remain tough, committed and unselfish – we will overcome. It is fun that may be in shorter supply for the foreseeable future… It was within this sober social context that Marianne and I were included in a wonderful event last night. The Sault’s Donnelly IG Wealth Management team, aided and abetted by the good people at the Delta Marriott , were the local enablers of a ‘Zoom Gala’ in support of ongoing Alzheimer disease research and vital community outreach programing. An Ontario wide event, but one where every dollar raised in the Sault remains here to advance Sault-related Alzheimer good works … with terrific artists Jim Cuddy, Steven Page, Sarah McLauchlan, and Alan Doyle (Great Big Sea) all performing in the bargain.
A worthy event that raised spirits and money for people who are especially vulnerable in a socially distanced time. There are many fine causes that we can all support to the best of our abilities – and be our better selves…. last night was a good one.
