GAUTHIER TOWNSHIP, ONT. — Provincial police have charged a 72-year-old man for failing to isolate for 14 days after entering the country.

Ontario Provincial Police say they received a call from the Public Health Agency of Canada to complete a compliance check under the federal Quarantine Act.

Police say their investigation found that the man from the Township of Gauthier, Ont., had arrived in Canada from another country.

They say the man had not complied with the mandatory self-isolation order, which was first introduced in March.

The man was issued a provincial offence notice and charged under the Quarantine Act.

Under the Quarantine Act, people arriving from outside Canada are required to isolate for 14 days, even if they don’t have symptoms.
