Three Charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime


SAULT STE. MARIE, ON – On November 13, 2020 officers with Patrol Services arrested 23-year-old Aurora Burr of Calgary, Alberta, 41-year-old Calvin Hawryluk of Calgary, Alberta and 39-year-old Chem Hyvarinen of Neebing, Ontario for possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

At 8:19 a.m. officers responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle in the 600 block of Second Line West. Upon arriving officers approached the vehicle and found Mr. Hyvarinen in the driver’s seat, and Mr. Hawryluk and Ms. Burr in the rear of the van.

Officers observed a lot of property in the vehicle, including a snow blower which was reported stolen on October 26, 2020. The three accused were arrested. A subsequent search of the area of arrest located break in tools and a drill reported stolen along with the snow blower.

All three of the accused are charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime, possession of break in tools and possession of instruments for breaking into coin operated devices. Mr. Hyvarinen is also charged with breach of probation. All three were held for WASH court.
