Cold winter weather is ideal for the beloved and timeless seasonal activity of ice skating. One of Northern Ontarian’s favourite pastimes is hockey – and hitting the City’s ODR’s is a common site during the winter months.
Kids can start to lace up their skates, grab the outdoor sticks and head to the Outdoor Skating Rinks (ODR).
Two of Sault Ste. Marie’s outdoor skating rinks are now open for the season.
The Art Jennings Speed Skating Oval and the Clergue Park Skating Trail are now open for the season, and will remain open weather permitting.
The skating trail and the oval are open from 10:00am to 10:00pm.
City Officials are trying to maintain under 100 people at any one time. Masks are not required to be worn at outdoor recreation spaces, but they are still encouraged.
Social distancing measures will be enforced.
The City of Sault Ste. Marie’s operated outdoor boarded skating rinks – Anna McCrea, Merrifield and Esposito rinks – remain closed at this time.
