With Canada playing the United States tonight for Gold in the IIHF World Juniors, the twin city across the river has taken to offering a friendly wager.
In a conversation with SaultOnline this morning, Mayor Don Gerry of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, has offered up either a six-pack of local lager or to wear a Sault Greyhounds jersey to an upcoming commission meeting.
Mayor Provenzano had this to say when approached about the challenge.
“Challenge accepted! I will be happy to see Mayor Gerry wear a greyhounds jersey to one of his meetings. I am sure he will look great in the red and white.”
So it’s on, we will bring you the outcome and reaction tomorrow after Canada ( hopefully ) beats the United States of America.
The game can be seen live from Edmonton at 9 p.m. tonight.
