Northern Ontario Angels has partnered with tax and legal experts to bring “First Nations Entrepreneurs & Investors Virtual Relationship Series” to the local community.
This will be a two part series on knowledge sharing through business and investing. In an interview to SaultOnline, Dalton MacFarlene is the executive director for Northern Ontario Angels,
“The goal at the end of the day is just helping the First Nations communities, helping other investors, and helping the north in general succeed in business development,” said MacFarlene. “It’s hard for First Nation communities and non-First Nation communities alike to be able to travel around and get access to information due to COVID,”
The series can be for anyone, from established business people, to someone who is just interested in learning more about business. They also offer anonymity for individuals who may not be confident yet, to come forward with an entrepreneurial idea, but still would like to participate.
Taxation experts will be available to answer questions on strategies to access tax exemption for employment, business and investment income, as well as tax considerations for joint ventures and partnerships. Legal experts are offering advice and knowledge on business proceedings and general legal due diligence.
“It’s just about reaching out to those communities and those individuals and just trying to help people during this pandemic,” said MacFarlene.
The first meeting is on Feb. 24, 2021 at 2:00pm, followed by the second meeting on March 24, 2021. RSVP by this Friday, Feb. 19, 2021 to receive invitations to the zoom links by emailing [email protected]
Organizers see this as a great opportunity for people of the community to pursue their business ambitions through these tough times. They encourage anyone interested to take advantage of this series and get your ideas on their feet!
