Sault Ste. Marie – CHAAT would like to announce its support for M.P.P Ross Romano’s
announcement this morning and pleased with his recognition and support for our citizens

CHAAT is Citizens Helping Addicts and Alcoholics Get Treatment, an active, caring and
compassionate citizens group in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario. CHAAT is here to lobby for the
proper infrastructure and resources to treat our fellow citizens

“Anything to advance the care of our community by better understanding the disease of
addiction is welcomed”, says CHAAT Chairman Dr. Paul Hergott. “But there is much more to be done.”

CHAAT will continue lobbying all levels of government for inclusive addictions treatment in
Sault Ste Marie and look forward to working collectively with all community partners to break
down the silos that exist today.

“The goal is to get more effective service delivery to those suffering with the disease of
addiction, says Hergott.

“CHAAT has ignited thousands of voices in our community, says Rolling Pictures Community Relations Director and CHAAT volunteer Robert Peace. “Voices that were previously silent are joining our call for action”.

With over 100,000 views since mid December to CHAAT’s Facebook site, people are coming
forward every day to tell their stories and want to be heard.

“People are dying and we need to be proactive in assuring that treatment is available to them
when they seek it,” says Hergott.

On Monday February 8 CHAAT chairperson Dr. Paul Hergott will make a presentation to city
council outlining the group’s vision for a safer & healthier Sault Ste Marie.
