Firefighters sell shirts for Colon Cancer

Colon Cancer shirts being offered by the local fire union.

In an effort to raise money to fight colon cancer, the Sault Ste. Marie Profession Firefighters Association is selling T-shirts.

Mark McLean has been a firefighter for over 20 years and is the media relations representative for the union. He explains why Colon cancer was chosen as the cause.

“We’re trying to raise money for colon cancer research and and in our case, because it’s an occupational disease, but we’ve also been affected personally,” said McLean. “So my dad had colon cancer. Chris Mei, the union president his dad died of colon cancer. My dad had colon cancer, he beat it, but eventually died of cancer two years ago. So a lot of us Aaron Gravelle, his father had colon cancer, and he beat it. So we’re directly affected by colon cancer.”
