A fire is reported in a downtown building, it appears serious requiring many streets to be shut down, the story unfolds live as the Sault’s first and only local streaming channel brings you live video and reports from the scene. That is a typical scenario that the news team at ONNtv will try to bring you on any given day starting March 1st.

ONNtv will overhaul it’s format for the first time since launching two years ago in Sault Ste. Marie.

The channel, which is available on multiple platforms, will begin each day with the live morning show FIRST LOCAL with Colette Linden, Heidy Ivany and Craig Huckerby. The program features the latest local stories and discussions. Billed as the only morning show originating from the Sault, the show will give viewers a quick look at overnight news, weather advisories and the latest talk of hot topic items. It will be repeated at 8:30 a.m.

At 9 a.m., live breaking news becomes the main focus of the channel. Each hour will follow as a “news wheel” featuring the latest local and national news, weather and sports. Live discussions follow on the big news stories of the hour.

The breaking news format will continue all day long leading up to the 5 p.m. newscast, NEWS at NIGHT.  The half hour newscast repeats at 5:30 p.m.

The new format replaces classic television shows and documentaries that were airing during the daytime around the news breaks. Classic TV shows, documentaries and some repeats of other locally produced programming will shift to the weekends.

Each hour will begin with the latest local stories followed by National and International news at approximately 12 minutes past the hour. Followed by weather and sports, lifestyle and entertainment.

However, as big stories develop, ONNtv will stay with the story as it unfolds.

“We want to give viewers the news as it happens and provide the most comprehensive coverage available.” states lead anchor, Colette Linden.

As always, viewers can also check out SaultOnline.com for full stories, videos on demand and other stories of interest to our audience. SaultOnline.com and ONNtv have quickly become a “go to” for thousands of viewers in Sault Ste. Marie and the Algoma District since its launch 7 years ago.

Other local programming include the new local sports show, 705 SPORTS With Jacob Moore and Colette Linden.  Between the Lines with Dan Gray as well as Seniors Calling with Lynne Brown.
