He was born in Squatec, Quebec to Ludger and Jeannette Viel. His parents moved to Blind River in 1955 where he would eventually meet and marry his soul mate, Edith (nee Ronholm). Together they created a loving family, Alain (Kelly), Marcel (Lorraine), Denis (Mona) and Chantal (Ken).
Loving grandfather of Jeffrey, Nicholas, Alyssa, Justin, Chelsea, Michelle, Faith, Ryan and Timothy and great grandfather of Violet.
Step son of the late Pierre Fournier. Brother of the late Rejean, Denise (Ray), Nicole (Hector), Gerald (Brenda), late Jean Yves (Patricia), Pat and Nin. Brother-in-law of Judith (late Ken), Ray (Denise), Gilbert (late Janet), late Aleatha (Barry), Micheal (Sharon), Ken (Joanne) and Maureen (Danny).
Fondly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, life long friends and extended family in Quebec.
Jean Guy wasn’t afraid of challenges. He was an incredibly skilled tradesman. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting with his wife and family.
Dad’s favorite place was the Aubinadong River…seeing and driving through the two great white pines known as our “gates of heaven”.
Special thanks to his doctors, nurses and health care providers.
