At approximately 2:20 p.m. March 30, 2021, Sault Fire Services were called to a working house fire in the downtown core.

Upon arrival in the 200 block of Gloucester Street, crews from pump 1 encountered flames shooting out of the back of a home. They knocked the fire down quickly and prevented it from spreading to other homes in the area.

According to the home owner he rents the home to two tenants. Both tenants got out of the building but he told me one cat did not make it through the fire.

Sault Fire Services remained on scene for over an hour. Firefighters could be seen doing extensive overhaul of the home.

SaultOnline will bring you more information as it is made available.
