On Friday, Sault Police Services started the process of acquiring a new command trailer.
“The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is requesting proposals for the Design, Fabrication and Delivery of a Mobile Command Trailer,” said a post on their website.
Lincoln Louttit, Communications Manager for SPS, was able to confirm the request is out for proposals after he noted the current command unit has been in use since 2001.
The current command unit is a bus/camper type style, the requirements for the new unit are that it is a tow behind unit. It will include radios, repeaters and WIFI as well as a retractable command antenna.
The Service has the RFP open until April 30, 2021.
